GENERAL LAYOUT

Priority was given to decisions that promoted the ease of operation and administration for the XXL school.

The positioning of program elements follows the logic of the spatial definition: public elements (hall and admin) are at the main entrance and court, the specialist classrooms (SCI Labs, MMCs, M-P Classrooms) are situated along the "public street", and the classrooms form the learner courtyards. Grade R ( a largely self contained function) will operate mostly on its own. 

A centrally located administration building gives better control and surveillance. Satellite HOD offices within the courtyards further the presence of staff among the learners.

The hall is placed in a prominent position at the culmination of the "public street" and entrance court to serve as a semi public space during school functions and be able to open out to the sports field.

To prevent a sprawling layout, classrooms were duplicated across two stories.
All ablutions consolidated around the central street to help with maintenance and lower installation costs.
Separate play areas are provided for all phases and allows for better grade distribution.
